Sweet Relief on US 301 in Riverview
So, if you’ve ever tried merging onto US 301 during rush hour and felt like you were starring in your own slow-motion traffic jam, you’re not hallucinating. Riverview’s growth has turned our roads into parking lots, and drivers have been begging for help.
Well, here’s some good news: FDOT has just activated a new traffic light at the corner of US 301 and Ambleside Boulevard. Cue collective sigh of relief from commuters tired of playing frogger between traffic waves during the evening crawl.
This isn’t just any traffic light. It’s the first domino to fall in a bigger plan to untangle our Southshore gridlock. How? You ask. By finally giving drivers a moment to breathe, and a chance to actually get into and out of their neighborhoods. This light is keeping Ambleside from turning into Vegas on a Saturday night.
FDOT’s also resurfacing US 301 and tweaking the intersection over at Cowley Road. Think of it as spring cleaning for the asphalt. New lanes, better pavement, and hopefully fewer “Do I dare?” U-turn standoffs.
Will one light fix everything? Nope. But locals are already asking for a few more, especially around neighborhood entrances, where turns during rush hour take about as long as the cart change at the tracks on 41.
So let’s treat this like getting the good Wi‑Fi in the house…one bar at a time. FDOT has laid the rails, now it’s time to see which intersections hop on board.
